Osun Governorship Election: APC moves primaries to Friday, July 20.
The postponement of the Osun APC governorship primary election was announced by APC’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has moved its primary election to pick its flag bearer for the September 22, 2018 governorship election in Osun state.
The primary election which was to hold on Thursday, July 19, 2018, has been moved to Friday, July 20, 2018.

The APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole had on Monday, July 16, 2018 stated that 17 aspirants were contesting for the governorship ticket.

He further announced that the primary election will be conducted on the basis of direct primary.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he said “We have decided that in order to ensure popular participation, and to deepen democracy in Osun State, in-line with the provision of our party constitution which allows for either direct or indirect primary, we have resolved that the governorship election primary in Osun state will be conducted on the basis of direct primary.

“What that means is that every card carrying member of our party will participate in the process of nominating the flag bearer of the party.

“This for us, is the most democratic way to conduct election and is in line with what our critical stakeholders from that part of the country wants and we are quite happy to oblige.”

Bolaji Abdullahi, APC’s spokesman on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 announced the postponement of the Osun APC governorship primary election. 

He said “The All Progressives Congress (APC) Primaries to elect the Party’s candidate for the forthcoming Osun State Governorship election has been postponed from Thursday 19th July, 2018 to Friday 20th July, 2018.

“However, a meeting between the Primary Election Committee chaired by H.E. Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, Governor of Zamafara State and stakeholders will hold at the Osun State capital, Oshogbo on Thursday.”
